“Travel as much as you can, as far as you can, for as long as you wish. Life is not meant to be lived in one place.”
This is our story, our experiences, our journey. The way we travel, explore, live in this full-time lifestyle is what we have created for us. Our blog is to share those experiences with others who may or may not wish to do this too. You choose to take from what we have done, where we have traveled and how we do things to add to your plans. If you are not traveling, we hope that our experiences and the places we have been give you a visual of this amazing and beautiful place called Australia.
Our Journey……
“One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things.”
Henry Millar
We have always wanted to travel Australia. Many attempts to do ‘The lap’ were made and failed. Finally, we decided that life was becoming a hurdle and we really needed to do this before we were physically, mentally and emotionally unable to.
We have done many things in our life, but the one thing that we have always enjoyed is travelling and exploring. Many ask, “how do you fund such a life?” Such a question is just a road-block, literally. The more excuses you put in your path, the less chance you will have of actually achieving your goals.
Our plans started two years prior to leaving on the journey. The first step was to purchase a caravan. Wow what a journey that was. We have done caravanning before, we had done plenty of camping before, but these new caravans are something else. The learning curve we have been on since purchasing that new van has been epic.
We bought a Jayco Sterling 20’6″ full height van with ensuite. Our Prado was to be our tow tug. First boo boo! The Prado wasn’t big enough to tow it. Now that’s not in torque or capability, but only in the limitations Toyota had placed on the Prado. Our other 4WD Ute, a Holden Rodeo, was able to tow it. So that enabled us to do some short trips to get a feel of whether this was going to work.
Our next plan was to explore tow tug options. Six months later, we decided on a BT50 Mazda. We had the well body removed and replaced with a chassis built aluminum canopy locally built in Bunbury. Having it locally built meant we could have it custom built to our specifications. We later added the internal layout in Karratha with the help of our talented son.
But that was just the beginning of the process. We then started to learn about 12v systems (BMS), solar and batteries, weights (GCM-GVM), and so much more. Five years later we are still learning as they continue to bring improvements to the market.

About Us
We have been travelling Australia for over four years, having completed one figure of 8 lap already. We work and travel as we go, picking up work that meets our requirements, skills and expertise. With a strong background in farming, mining and other industries, we are prepared to work in those sectors plus anything else. Photography is Bron’s hobby and thus the photos you see are her own work. We are both in our 60’s, fit, healthy and ready to take on the challenges ahead of us.
